In this double elimination tournament, the team in the "Winner" bracket entered the championship game undefeated, while the "Loser" bracket team had already lost 1 game. In order to win the Championship, the "Loser" bracket team needed to win 2 games.
It was an exciting Saturday with 3 leagues requiring 2 games to decide the championship. Only three #1 seeds survived to win the championship. The five other league championships went to lower seeds who peaked at the right time.
Thank you to all who helped make the CYBA return after a 2 season COVID absence a success!

The CYBA "Rec League Program" is a competitive "recreation" league, where team standings are kept and a "double elimination" playoff tournament decides the champion. For the enjoyment of players and parents, the main goal of the team selection process is to produce evenly balanced and matched teams so that all teams can fairly compete. To form balanced teams, end-of-season player evaluations are used for returning players, while new players are required to do a pre-season skills assessment. The selection process factors these evaluations along with player size (and age in multiple age leagues) to produce balanced teams. Because of this, it is not possible to honor requests to play with friends, play for a specific coach, accommodate car pools, or allow coaches to pre-choose their assistant coach. Please understand that we are not being insensitive to such desires, but in the interest of ensuring the best environment and most enjoyment for everyone it is important that selecting balanced teams be the priority.
The CYBA is a non-profit, community service organization that
provides a competitive "recreational" basketball league for the youth of Camarillo. The league consists of Boys teams for grades 3 through High School, and girls teams for grades 3 through 8. Games are on Saturdays and each team gets 1 hour of gym time for practice during the week. The "Regular" season is 8 games starting in early January. All teams qualify for the "post season" double elimination tournament.
CYBA requires that all Board volunteers, Commissioners, coaches and refereees pass an NCIS background screening. Use the link to the right to register for your screening
